This forum addressed the nation’s most critical issues including education, the environment, labor, tourism, immigration and fiscal crises that successful and urban ecosystems. Clinton offered her insights on criminal justice reform, economics and prayers for the family of Freddie Gray, a man who died April 19 while in police custudy in Baltimore, Md. and whose death led to protests and riots in the city.
Dinkins, the first African American mayor of New York City, was in attendance, and other esteemed guests included, Lee Bollinger, the Dean of Columbia’s International Affairs School Merit E. Janow, Columbia Professor Ester R. Fuchs, Russell Sage Foundation President Sheldon H. Danziger, Yale University professor Jacob S. Hacker, Dean and professor of Columbia University School of Social Work Jeanette Takamura, and also the president of the Ford Foundation Darren Walker.
